Booking your Watamu Marine Park tour online is a straightforward process that provides instant confirmation for your trip. This guide provides a step-by-step walkthrough of how to use our secure booking form, understand the costs, and complete your payment. All tours are managed by licensed operators from the Watamu Marine Association to ensure a safe and professional experience.
To provide our boat operators with adequate time to prepare, we require all online bookings to be made at least one day in advance of the excursion date.
Our booking form is divided into simple sections. Here is a clear explanation of each step to guide you through the process.
First, select the duration of your tour. The Half Day option is a 4-hour morning trip that covers the main highlights, while the Full Day tour is a more immersive 6+ hour experience that includes lunch. You will also select the activities you are interested in, such as snorkeling, dolphin watching, or a general boat ride, to help us understand your priorities.
In this section, you will specify the number of people in your group. It is important to select the correct Residency Status (Kenyan Citizen, Kenyan Resident, or Non-Resident), as this determines the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) park fees and the final price. Children are charged at a 50% rate.
We require your full name and a valid phone number (including the country code, e.g., +254 for Kenya). This information is used exclusively to confirm your booking and to allow your boat captain to coordinate with you on the morning of the excursion.
After you have filled out the form, you will be taken to a summary page to review all your details and the final price. No payment is required until you have confirmed that all the information is correct. This ensures complete transparency before you commit to the booking.
The price of your excursion depends on the tour duration and your residency status. Our pricing is transparent and includes all mandatory park fees.
| Tour | Regular Season Rate | Peak Season Rate (Mid-Nov to Feb) |
|---|---|---|
| Half Day (Non-Resident) | $60 USD | $75 USD |

| Full Day (Kenyan Resident) | 5,100 KES | 5,600 KES |
| Full Day (Kenyan Citizen) | 4,500 KES | 5,000 KES |
Please note that children aged 12 and under are charged at 50% of the adult rate.
For residents, M-Pesa is the most common payment method. After you have confirmed your booking details on the summary page, you will be redirected to our secure payment gateway. When you select M-Pesa, you will receive an automatic payment prompt (STK push) on the phone number you provided. Simply enter your M-Pesa PIN to authorize the payment. Your booking is confirmed instantly upon successful payment.
For international visitors, we accept all major credit and debit cards, including Visa and Mastercard. On the payment page, select the "Credit/Debit Card" option and enter your card details. All transactions are processed through a secure, encrypted gateway to protect your information. Your booking will be confirmed immediately after the payment is processed.
To ensure clarity, every tour package includes the following standard items. The only major difference is the inclusion of lunch on the full-day tour.
All online bookings must be made at least 24 hours in advance. This gives us the necessary time to coordinate with the boat operators, arrange for park ticketing, and ensure all equipment is prepared for your trip.
